We're just chugging along like we normally do, but I thought it was time to write again, so here I am.

Ben was called as Scout Master last week. So now he has two callings, Scouts and Young Men's. He was also given an assignment from the elders quorum to oversee the day of service project in September. That, on top of his normal work duties that having him driving to Boulder almost every day, Ben is staying very busy.

Speaking of Ben, he put in his application for school. We should hear in later September-early November if he got in. If all goes to plan, we should be moving from Denver late summer next year. I've been looking at housing prices in the Dayton OH area, and things are so much cheaper there!

I still have Gavin most days. He hasn't had an accident in several weeks. Something finally clicked for him. I still worry about accidents when we leave the house, but at least I haven't had to clean up poopy pants in a long time. I far as I know, I might be babysitting him until we move away. That's fine with me, James loves having a friend and I like earning a bit of money.

Young Women's is going OK for me. Both the secretary and the 2nd counselor have newborns, so most of the time it's just me and the president. We combined mutual's with the other ward, because both groups separate are very small (like maybe 4 girls total). I was my idea initially. I thought it would be good to try over the summer when more kids are out of town, but it looks like we are continuing until new years at least. The other wards YW budget is more than triple ours, and the YW pres. offered to help with that since we literally have no money to do anything. But of course, parents complain that it is our ward that had to switch from Tuesday to Wednesday, even though we asked months in advance if this would work with the youths schedules. And then there is coordinating between all the youth organizations in both wards. It's just getting to be too much, but both bishops want us to be combined.

James is doing well. I kept him home this year. I just couldn't justify spending $200+ on what would essentially be play dates. Our "home school" this year is going to consist of lots of reading aloud, free days at the museums around town, story time at the library, helping at home more, and learning social skills with Gavin.

  2. Sounds like you're keeping busy!
Are you going to homeschool James next year, or send him to a school?

    1. Funny enough, I just got a call from a school yesterday that a spot opened up for him. I think I will still keep him home. Even if he went to school, I'd still watch Gavin, so might as well have both of them so they can play together.
