Potty Post

I had no intention of beginning toilet training until tomorrow (Monday), but my hand has been forced. I come out of my bedroom Friday morning to Grandma Templeman and James in the bathroom, with him seated on the toilet. She says he already had his diaper off and ready... riiiiight.... So I just kept the momentum going the rest of the day.

So far, he's had two accidents each day. But he is doing SO well. He pauses his activity and says, "I think I need to go potty" and runs off to sit in the bathroom. And he's been very successful, except for today.

He dropped little #2's on the way to the bathroom today. I'm proud of him for trying to get there in time though. During dinner we had the missionaries over, and I knew it was going to be bad news. James has been naked the past two days, and anytime he has any clothing on the bottom he has an accident. So I knew we were bound to have trouble while the missionaries were here. James left a huge #2 in the family room floor. I knew something was up because he was hiding behind our recliner. I'm so glad Ben is here to help with cleanup duties. One of us can put James in a bathtub while the other cleans up the mess.

So that's life for us at the moment. I'm so ready to be able to get out of the house again.

  1. Lol, I was surprised when Mom cut Hollyn's bangs "for me" even though I was growing them out. But I don't think I'd mind if she put my toddlers on the toilet and encouraged pottying. It's always so sabotaging when you have to stick your kid back in diapers whenever you visit Grandma/someone's house. The more people willing to help with this task, the better I say!

Good luck with the training. Hope it goes quickly for you!
