It has it's perks. Seeing as how there are so many Parmenters around, there is always someone who can come help you out with something. The downside? Are you expected to be available to help. All. The. Time.
Somehow that expectation has carried over into other areas of my life. I have 4, yes 4, church callings/ assignments right now. Don't they know I have a baby? Don't they know I am already behind on my VT? Nope! Primary teacher, RS activity committee, Stake Play marketing, and now giving a talk on Sunday. Make it 5 callings if you want to include VT. Denise just laughed at me and said, "You're a Parmenter!" when I told her what I was up to. At one point, she had 6 callings. 4 ward and 2 stake callings. YOW! Ain't nobody got time for that!
