It's only the second day of school, but it feels as though this term started a month ago. I'm going to love my classes. My teachers are those tough, "keep it real" teachers that intimidate most students, but I love that about them. I still have yet to see what my Political Thought course is like, but my International Relations and US Govt. and Policies courses are awesome so far. I also think I will enjoy my Women and Feminism course. It might get a little heated, and I will probably not like some comments that might be said by other students, but after looking over the material we're going to cover, I thought of some good responses to questions they may have. I'm prepared my bear a testimony. I've had that "I am not ashamed of the Gospel" quote repeating in my head for the past few days.
My apartment is SLOWLY coming together. Still some boxes, and we will have to resort to putting some things away in the storage unit, but it's now just a matter of arranging what we have.
I love being married! It's been great spending time with Ben and establishing our home and new routines. I've noticed that we work even better together now than we did just a few weeks ago. What a blessing temple marriage is!
And some exciting news: About two weeks ago I interviewed for a position as a Advertising and Sales Rep at The Daily Barometer, the OSU student-run newspaper. I got a call a few days later saying that I didn't get it because someone else had slightly more experience with direct marketing, but my interviewer suggested I do some political writing for the paper. I let it go and didn't think much of it while I was moving and in Tahoe, but today my interviewer called me again. Another route opened up because that person is working two jobs and burning at both ends. He offered me the job at The Daily Barometer! I'll be going around to businesses to renew/ sign new contracts for advertising in the paper. My training is Thursday/ Friday, then I'll be sent off on my own on Monday. Craziness! And what a blessing!
Devon, that is so exciting. Congrats on the job!!! And I think you should definitely write some political articles. I mean, do you even understand what he's asking? People who major in journalism would die for that kind of offer...and you have a lot of thoughts about politics that would be fun to air! I think you better at least consider it. Who knows...maybe it will take your life in unexpected directions!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that if I start writing for them, I would have to submit an article every week. While they might not all get published, that's a lot of articles to write on top of all the writing I'm going to be doing this term.
