I did it! Fall term is done. Now I can relax and enjoy my Christmas break. I've got lots of books to read, and hopefully a painting project, because my giant desk at mom and dad's is a boring pine wood color. Only problem is that the wood has a finish that the paint probably wont stick to. Bummers. I'm feeling particularly crafty this season. Anyone have any ideas?
And I had my toe surgery today, so of course I have a huge desire to start my half marathon training. I mean, Dr. Rampton never specified, but I'm pretty sure it's not recommended when your toe looks like this:

Looks fun, eh? I hate it when people try to show you their gross wounds, but I couldn't resist. It's really not that bad. I'm only asking for a quick recovery. Very soon I'm going to get bored with watching The Last Song with Miley Cyrus. That girl CANNOT sing.
p.s. Jenny: My friend Skye told me about a half marathon happening in April. It's in Portland, I think, I'll have to check with him again. But I'm wondering if maybe you'd be interested? If I started cracking down on training I could be ready. It's $75, but it's through a program that supports people with mental disabilities. I can get more details on it for you.
Congrats on the finished semester.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finished toe job.
Good luck on the half marathon. I noticed you didn't ask Heather if she wanted to run. It might help her labor go easier. Kind of thoughtless.
And I agree - Miley cannot sing. I'm tired of her auto-tuned songs. Blech!
I'll have to think about the race. I haven't run since July, so I'll have John make me a program and see how it goes the next couple weeks. Although we were watching The Biggest Loser on tues, and I thought if those guys can go from couch to marathon (albeit not at a very fast pace)in 5mo, I ought to be able to do it also.
ReplyDeleteYeah, why wasn't I invited? I've been on the elliptical twice in the last 3 days, so I'm doing better than Jenny! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to see the gross toe picture, but it wouldn't show... is it just me?
Okay, EVERYONE is invited to join in on the half marathon. I just mentioned Jenny because out of all of us, she seem(ed) to be the most consistent in her running.
ReplyDeleteEpicrelays.com has a good running schedule, but it's for a relay race, not a half marathon. I worked a checkpiont last year for the Portland-Eugene relay.
As for the picture, it's not that gross. My toe is all bandaged up. When I open it on Saturday, THAT might be really photo worthy.
