Oh For Realz?

I'm doing an unofficial experiment. I've decided to never buy shampoo or conditioner again. Sounds gross, right? WRONG! I've found an alternative (or rather I've been told an alternative instead of me finding it on my own, thanks Shannon), and already have fallen in love with it. The secret? 1 tablespoon baking soda with one cup water, and for the conditioner 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with one cup water. My first impression was, "Oh great, its going to be a volcano science project in my hair." I felt like I was washing my hair with water and I thought my hair was going to smell bad, but it didn't. I know everyone loves the feeling of bubbles in their hair, but few really understand how much damage that does. Those bubbles are basically scraping everything good from your hair, which is why after the shower we load up on hair products to make it feel good and soft again. Why not keep all those good things in your hair to begin with? So day one of my home haircare routine was a hit. No dry or oily head. I was told there would be a transition period while my head got used to difference. Right now my hair gets super oily by the end of the day because it's trying to replenish what I took out with store bought shampoos, but after about a week it should get better. So I guess this experiment is twofold: see what condition my hair is in after about two weeks, and see how much money I save by making my own hair products from stuff I already buy.
