I absolutely loved the Lazy Organizers blog post this morning. I've always known that I want my home to be filled with paintings and artwork to look at and ponder. Pieces that inspire creativity, instead of just meaningless decorations. My family vacations will have a purpose. Beyond spending time as a family ( which in and of itself is great), I want my kids to learn something that will enrich their lives. And by chance that I can afford a large screen TV, it will be used to watch Planet Earth and The History Channel, not mind numbing TV shows from Disney. I actually heard someone argue IN FAVOR of video games. I don't care how much "reading or coordination" is involved, a real book can never be replaced by the Halo instruction manual. I've been making mental notes of these things for years, so I am thrilled when my sisters and others put these thoughts into action and I can see how they play out in a real family. Although there is criticism ("No TV? How boring!"), I know, and my sisters know, how much better off their children will be for it.
