Everything here has been going fantastic. James is such a great sleeper at night. He goes right back to sleep after being fed and changed. We are never up more than an hour at a time with him. I wish he would sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time, but that's to be expected.
We've had a few hiccups the past week because we are teaching him to sleep on his own. We no longer rock him until he is mostly asleep. We maybe rock him for a minute or two until he is calm, but still very much awake. He fusses for a few minutes and then falls asleep. If he fusses more or it escalates, I know he probably wasn't ready to be put in the crib and we try again. But it's been working out pretty well.

Next up is teaching him to sleep without being swaddled so much. We wrap him TIGHT so he can't hardly move at all. At some point in the future I'd like to not have to do that. He wakes up a little more than I'd like when we have to unwrap him to change his diaper in the middle of the night. So if we can teach him to sleep well without swaddling, maybe you wont wake up when the wrap is gone.
Another thing he's been doing the past few nights is going to bed earlier. He's been trying to sneak in a late afternoon nap right before he would normally be going down for the night. I don't know if I should start is nighttime routine then, or wait for another few hours for a late routine.
I am reading the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child book, but not sure how useful it is at this age when he's going to do whatever he wants. But it is helping me see what is coming up in our near future.
