I want to take on a new home improvement challenge: changing the theme of my home.
Previously I thought I wanted red and white to be the main colors of my home. After living with those colors in real life for about a year, I've discovered they are too dark for everyday use. So I'm changing the colors of my home. No more red, white and black theme.
I want my home to have a relaxed and airy feel to it. I want to feel like I'm actually resting in my home, not in a modern art museum.
Here are some pictures of my inspirations for the change
I love how the colors blend together. And she still has some dark pieces, but they work with the space instead of competing for attention.
On the blog post, she lists the actual paint colors she used in her home. While I can't paint my apartment, I can still slowly make changes to my furniture and decorations.
Would you like to exchange your dark couch for our green one-temporarily, until Brian and I someday move to a house with a family room?
ReplyDeleteI have decided that I find my living room very restful. Lots of brown/tan/white with spots of red, black, blue and green (that oriental rug is colorful, but muted). I think keeping things somewhat monochromatic with just a little bit of accent can be restful.
