Podcasts

A while ago I listed some of my favorite YouTube channels that I subscribe to. I thought I would also share my favorite shows I try to listen to regularly. I like to listen to them while I cook, clean, and fold laundry. I recently got an iPhone again, so I'm back to using the podcast app, but I have had a Android in the past. For Android, I like the Podcast Republic app. Some you can listen to online, and I have linked to shows so you can try them out online.

Gospel Solutions for Families : From the Mormon Channel. This has been really fun to listen to, and full of ways to apply the gospel in everyday living. Each episode is about an hour.

Conversations: Also from the Mormon Channel. This is interviews with different leaders of the church, or people with an interesting story to tell. Steve Young was recently interviewed, and Heidi Swinton was fun to listen to. About an hour long.

Mormon Channel Daily: Short little bits of encouragement. Usually a song is shared at the end. Sometimes there is an interview with someone in the church, like the SLC Temple Master Gardener, or Mack Wilberg who directs the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. One of my favorites was an interview with the guy who writes the music for most of the Mormon Messages videos we have seen.

Questions and Answers: Another podcast from the Mormon Channel. A specific topic is covered each episode. Usually about 30 minutes, these are pretty in depth, full of clips from conference talks and scriptures quoted.

CES Devotionals: I subscribe to the audio recording of these, but video is also available. If you skip all the opening and closing songs, the actual talk is only about 20 minutes.

Intelligence Squared: I really am only interested in one episode from this. "Stop Bashing Christians! Britain has become an anti-Christian country"

Intelligence Squared Debates: Ben likes to listen to these with me, and we listen to several in a row when we have gone on road trips. I like the format of these, real oxford-style debates with a winner and loser chosen by the audience. About 45-60 minutes.

FairMormon: I subscribed to this because I knew that the founders of Mormon Women Stand were interviewed, but I've actually gone on to listen to almost every episode since then. 60 minutes long.

Wellness Mama: I basically only listen to ones I'm specifically interested in because I find these a little dry sometimes. But if you find a topic you're interested in, these have good information in them. About 30-60 minutes.

The Art of Simple Podcast: I love The Art of Simple blog, and I think I like the podcast better. It's basically an hour of girl talk while I fold laundry. 45 minutes.

Sexy Marriage Radio: This is intimacy with a Christian foundation. The idea that sex in marriage is the best. Just look through the Sexuality category in iTunes, and you'll see how much garbage there is. This podcast is a clean breath of air. About 30 minutes.

Armstrong and Getty: My first and favorite podcast. I love the Armstrong and Getty Show. They are freaking hilarious! Yes, it is political, but they also talk about other things too. Sometimes a little crude, but gosh dang they are funny. Each episode is about 40 minutes, but there are 4 episodes each weekday.

Each podcast has their own publication schedule, and subscribing to them means you get the latest one downloaded whenever it becomes available. I love podcast's because they provide a way to listen to radio shows that are not played in my area, without commercials, and I don't have to listen live. I can listen whenever and wherever I want.

  1. Interesting. I never listen to stuff during the day. I hate being interrupted with small voices so I tend to just do classical music or nothing. some of these sound interesting, though, so maybe I'll have to make time in my day.
