Happened upon this article while poking around the Internet this evening. Thought it was pretty interesting. I've been considering home birth, or at least natural birth, for next time (I'm not pregnant FYI, just some thoughts I've had since giving birth to James). Since my epidural didn't work that much with James, I feel that I could do a full on natural birth.

You know me... I'm all about safe home birthing experiences! Having a professional experienced midwife is key! You've got to have the preventive prenatal care.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. More power to ya, I guess. You should also try getting a tooth pulled with nothing but a shot of whiskey too, after all people have been doing all sorts of things without anesthesia for thousands of years ;-) But I jest. I just fall in the camp of feeling like pain-reducing medical advances are blessings from God and I'm happy to thank him by taking advantage, lol. Jenny would have been in the risk-free perfect candidate category for a home birth when having John as well. Good thing she was in a hospital though, as you know. I guess I'd suggest pray about it because you never know if you'll be in the 95% or the 5%. :-) But what an interesting idea to consider.
ReplyDeleteWhether you are a fan personally or not, I think every woman should have the right to choose how they deliver. Besides that, a home birth that transfers to a hospital is not a failed birth. To me it's like a vaginal birth in hospital that becomes a c-section. Anyway, it was an interesting article.
