I cannot remember if I wrote about it earlier, but the housing website for Vance AFB now has floor plans to view. Very exciting stuff!
This will take you to all the floor plans on base. We are eligible for anything with "CGO". They do take into account family size, but it also simply depends on what is available when we apply for housing.
The plan is still to move sometime this fall, but Ben could start school right away, or wait until as late as February. I'm hoping it's the latter. I would love it if we could move and have a few months before class starts to really get a feel for the area. The reason that he could wait so long is because of class size and dropout rate. If a spot opens up, they don't want an empty chair, they want you on base and ready to go.
In preparation for moving, we will be selling, loaning out, or giving away, most of our furniture. On the list of things to go is:
King bed
Glass coffee table
Giant TV
Glass top dining table
Ben's desk
Devon's desk
Another desk (smaller than the others)
James' dresser
Devon's dresser
Jame's bookcase
Changing table
That's pretty much everything but our couch, and maybe that too if I don't feel like moving it when it gets closer to moving date. Let me know if you are interested in anything, or else it's all going on Craigslist so we can help us buy new(er) stuff there.
I'm interested in what I think is "Dev's dresser". I'd have to see it to know if it's the one I'm thinking of.
ReplyDeleteSo are you going to buy new stuff there? Is the housing furnished? Doesn't the military cover moving costs? How does all that work? I mean, I don't think they can expect you to sell all your stuff and re-buy every time you move, as that's rarely cost effective (unless you are a supreme bargain hunter). I mean, that's just what I Think. Just curious. Wish I could steal your couch. I'm on the hunt but you are TOO FAR.
