Goodbye Facebook

I took a leap and deleted my facebook account. I feel strange, and yet, so free! I do have a twitter account, if any of my sisters or friends is interested. I'm having slight remorse over the idea that maybe I wont be able to connect with people from high school or out of town folks. So please, keep in contact with me by other means. Phone, Google Plus, Google Hangout (Ben and I really enjoy this actually, better than skype), Twitter, or good ol' fashioned snail mail (who doesn't still enjoy getting a letter?). I'm also slightly worried about how I will keep up with modern society in general. I need some ideas of good news media sources to subscribe to.

  1. I'm having the same issues - I'd like to make my point with facebook, but so far I'm not ready to cut myself off from the only way I keep up with most people. Some, like roommates, etc., they don't keep a blog, so I otherwise wouldn't know about THEIR lives. And I enjoy keeping up.
I don't know about the current events you care about, but I signed up for the app FlashAlerts because they'll notify of school weather closures/delays. But you can also get alerts of breaking news (National, global, etc.) and weather. Maybe even celebrity updates. :-) I didn't look further into what they do, but you might look into it. They do NOT have articles or opinions though, which FB can be a great way to be led to super interesting stuff I otherwise wouldn't be introduced to.
