Why Libertarian?

My sister wrote an excellent note on Facebook about the general principle and motivation behind the Libertarian Party. She listed two resources for information. I would like to expand on that note.
I believe that people, mostly politicians, underestimate the human capacity to learn and motivate themselves. I believe that God gave us all the potential and tools we need for families to take care of themselves. By allowing government to make decisions for us, we are discrediting and limiting what God has done. We are turning Gods power over to the government.
Libertarians believe that people, not government, are best at finding solutions and caring for themselves. It may sound like I believe in anarchy; I do not. I believe it is my responsibility to care for myself and my family. When it comes to political voting and decisions, I use this foundation; "will this law/ regulation/ policy expand or maintain my individual agency, or will it be restricted and take away my freedom of choice?"
I would like to share a few resources and examples of how people, not government, make the best decisions.
