I have been so busy these past weeks. My days are constantly filled with running errands. Calling #1 is Relief Society Meetings, formally Enrichment. Calling #2 is the Relief Society Steering Committee. Granted it doesn't sound like a legitimate church calling, but that is what the Stake RS President decided to call it. My job is to help organize the upcoming Stake Women's Conference and make sure information gets to the sisters in my ward. We also have to feed and entertain 300 women. Our Friday activity is going to be Speed Friendship, instead of Speed Dating. I think it will be a fun way to meet others in a non-intimidating atmosphere. Calling #3 is Ward Rep for Red Cross Blood Drives. I'm given 18-22 time slots that I have to fill. The problem is that everyone always wants the same time, and the blood drive is held during a weekday and students have classes to attend. Only 4 time slots to fill! Calling #4 is Visiting Teaching, and yes I think it should be considered a church calling.
School is going well. Classes are fairly easy and not too time consuming, although I should be studying more. I'm getting good grades though, all A's for my Marriage Relationship's essays. It's a sociology class, so it views marriage from a economic/social/family view instead of the actual relationship between the two individuals. Then I am taking a Western Religion class online. We just finished our unit on Judaism and now we are moving on to Christianity. Should be very interesting to read others views, although I can already see some major differences between the LDS church and the opinions of some of my classmates. My last class is Lifetime Health and Fitness. The actual class does not start until February 20, but I had to get a blood test for my cholesterol and glucose levels. The girl in line before me needed to have her mom there for moral support and was flinching, plus the nurse working on her had to call over the other nurse and they both were saying, "you need to relax your arm or it wont work." Fantastic, that's exactly what I want to be hearing. The process was surprisingly easy, although walking back to my car felt weird, and now my arm is a little swollen and bruised.
That has been my life recently. The only relaxation time I set aside is for watching The Office and 30 Rock on Thursday's. Last nights 30 Rock episode was awesome, and I was thrown for a loop with The Office. Dunder Mifflin was bought by a printer company called Sabre, and Pam is about ready to pop. Sorry if I am spilling the beans on anything. This season is going to be awesome!
p.s. I am so proud of the title of this post. If you've seen the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral you'll get the joke. And I didn't even realize it but: weddings and callings bring blessings, while funerals and term papers are generally sad.
